About Women in Physical Sciences

Welcome to the coolest club at UCLA! The Women in Physical Science club aims to create a supportive atmosphere for all women in physical science fields. We like to strike a balance between social and professional development through monthly lunches with professors and graduate students. Our lunches provide a platform for discussing problems faced by women in physical science fields and creating a network of support comprised of women at all stages in their careers.

In addition to hosting regular lunches, each year WPS organizes a student poster fair, where undergraduates are welcome to present their research to their peers and professors. Traditionally, the WPS poster fair is held just before the UCLA Poster Day to allow undergraduates to practice their presentations. All undergraduates are welcome to participate to get feedback on their research!

For the 2016-17 academic year, WPS is also actively helping to organize the American Physical Society's Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP), which will be held at UCLA on January 13-15, 2017. The conference will feature panels, plenary talks, a student poster sesion, and a job fair. CUWiP@UCLA aims to promote diversity in physics and inform women about what career options are available to them with an undergraduate physics degree, including graduate school, industry, teaching, and private sector careers. Food and housing will be paid for by the conference. We highly encourage you to apply! The application deadline is October 14 at 8:59 PM PST. For more information, see the CUWiP@UCLA website below:
